I have spent my life exploring new bounderies and think every explorer should have a camera. When I was introduced for the first time to a camera a while ago, did not get hooked to it, as it was a plain Kodak Fiesta with no fancy buttons. On the contrary, my father's untouchable Carl Zeiss-Ikon 8mm camera was much more appealing and even more so, his Akai B&W video setup with a wooden grip. These days, it is going to be hard to find a wooden gripped camera.
My Background
Passionate aviator, flew for the airlines at the controls of different airplanes, feeling first hand what it is like to orchestrate a flight from departure to arrival while enjoying it. And let me say it right, it took me years of dedication and discipline to get to that point.
The Learning Curve
It all spanned from jungle flying to regional carriage over the Andes, followed by flying for a legacy airline with plenty of international destinations to choose from. Those were my days of great hotels, comfortable schedules and great people inside and outside the cockpit. The ride continued on the training field by becoming a simulator instructor, courseware developer and academic director for airline programs. The taste of sharing my airmanship with a crowd of students, is simply priceless.
The Transition
Commercial Photography has been a permanent silent partner, a field always wanted to devote more time into, especially with the advent of digital technology since the early 90s. My first photography setup was shipped to me in early 2006, in exchange for a substantial credit card transaction that got me thinking if it was really worth it to that extent. The answer is a big Yes.
